I was born at the perfect time to pursue a career in full-stack software development. I grew up programming 8-bit computers, then learned Unix in college. I entered the workforce at the emergence of Windows for Workgroups and Linux, and I'll be retiring right about the time the AI's make me redundant. Also, the year Social Security goes broke.

The Harry Potter “Community”
I picked up the video game Hogwarts Legacy on sale for the PS5. Despite never having read a Harry Potter book, or ever watching one of the movies all the way through, I’ve enjoyed the game, and I love the … Continue reading
Church Embezzlement
There were a lot of stories in the 80’s about Jim and Tammy Baker embezzling millions from their church. Closer to home, there have been stories about UPCI preachers embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from their local churches. When … Continue reading
Big Companies
Have you ever worked in a big company? Say, more than 1,000 people? I’ve spent the majority of my 30 years so far working at three Fortune 250’s. Have you ever seen a manager do things that promoted their personal … Continue reading

Corporate IT “Support”
I couldn’t mount network drives on my work laptop, so I opened a ticket. That was FIVE weeks ago. The ticket was closed by the first person after 3 days without even contacting me. I immediately re-opened it, and it … Continue reading
The Downfall of the West
I’m watching the end of civilization in real time on Twitter. Between Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan, I’m watching Europe eagerly import the same culture that has made the Middle East a nightmare for the past 1,400 years. I have several … Continue reading
Glory Days
I legitimately miss this age of computing. RedHat Linux 6, Windows 98 and NT 4, Mac OS X, Solaris, HP-UX, IRIX, AIX, and BeOS. It was a great time to be a “computer guy.” We were all trying to figure … Continue reading
Pain is Your Body’s Way…
Chronic pain is your body’s way of telling you that you’re a horrible person, and that God hates you.
My Whole Life is Crappy Web Sites
This is a snapshot of my inbox. I think it tells the story well enough that it doesn’t need explanation. This is my life: battling crappy web sites. All day. Every day. This is all of our lives now. We … Continue reading
My Limit
I’ve seen about 18 doctors in the past 3 years. I’ve honestly lost track. Every single visit was about one thing: I’m in constant, extreme pain. Yet every single doctor has refused to prescribe me ANYTHING to help with the … Continue reading
